Santé Diabète is a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2001 to respond to the lack of access to healthcare for people with diabetes in Africa and to the failure to take this health emergency into account by development actors at the global level.
Initially active in Mali, Santé Diabète later expanded its activities to Burkina Faso, Senegal (until 2018), the Union of Comoros, as well as France (where its headquarters are located), with permanent teams in each country.
To develop strong public policies and sustainably strengthen the health system, the NGO works with all institutional partners, national and local authorities, civil society actors, communities, and people living with diabetes, through a comprehensive approach to improve prevention and ensure quality diabetes care.
Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by permanently elevated blood glucose levels. Worldwide, 589 million adults currently live with diabetes. In 2024, the disease was responsible for the death of 3.4 million adults. Its prevalence is increasing particularly rapidly on the African continent.
Living well with diabetes means that you have to develop both a lifestyle that allows you to control the disease but that also allows you to accomplish your projects and your dreams.
