Type 1 diabetes is not just a matter of treatment and medical follow-up: it is a mental burden, a constant management of uncertainty, both deeply personal and yet part of a shared reality.<\/p>\n<p>Designed in collaboration with the<strong>NGO Sant\u00e9 Diab\u00e8te<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ncdpolicylab.org\/\"><strong>NCD Policy Lab<\/strong><\/a> presents the photo exhibition \u2018Living With\u2019 on Quai Wilson in Geneva. This open-air and free exhibition illustrates, through shared testimonies from Geneva and Bamako, the experiences of people living with <a href=\"https:\/\/santediabete.org\/en_en\/le-diabete\/#un\">type 1 diabetes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5<\/strong><strong>6<\/strong><strong> portraits<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>between individual stories and shared experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Photographers <strong>Antoine Martin<\/strong> (Switzerland) and <strong>John Kalapo<\/strong> (Mali) have captured this voice through 56 portraits, carefully created together with patients to faithfully reflect their experiences and the messages they wished to convey. Each portrait is accompanied by a personal testimony, reinforcing the deeply human dimension of the exhibition.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"This project reveals the human side of type 1 diabetes. A disease without borders, age, or gender, which demands constant vigilance\u2026 yet does not prevent finding balance. Each portrait reflects a unique way of moving forward,\u201d explains Antoine Martin, who also served as the exhibition\u2019s artistic director.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A Symbolic Presence in Public Space<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Throughout the month of September, \u2018Living With\u2019 takes over the <strong>the shores of Lake L\u00e9man<\/strong>, a highly frequented location in the heart of Geneva, offering maximum visibility for this awareness-raising initiative. The exhibition becomes a <strong>a symbolic bridge<\/strong> between Geneva and Bamako, where perspectives intersect and realities are shared despite cultural and geographical distances.
